One of the biggest rivalries in the NHL reached peak drama on Monday night after the New Jersey Devils found a way to defeat the New York Rangers in Game 7.

The Devils advance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs while their long-time rivals are sent home.

It’s not every day a team gets to force their biggest rival out of the playoffs, so the fans took advantage by closing down the street outside of the arena to celebrate.

Barstool Sports shares a clip of Devils fans going wild after securing the Game 7 playoff win over the Rangers.

Now that looks like a party! Devils fans were not going to let Rangers fans forget about losing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by any means.

The series was close throughout but New Jersey kind of ran away with Game 7. After solid goalie play on both ends, the Devils opened up the scoring midway through period two.

They never looked back after that, securing two more goals in the third. The Rangers just couldn’t get anything past Akira Schmid, as he recorded 31 saves on the night.

It’s tough to win when you can’t score and that’s exactly how the Devils were able to eliminate the Rangers from the playoffs.

Now, New Jersey moves on to round two where they’re set to take on a tough Carolina Hurricanes team. This should be a fun matchup, as both teams are solid throughout.

However, we’re pretty sure Devils fans are going to continue celebrating the playoff win over the Rangers up until they drop the puck.
