Over the past decade or so, being traded to the Browns was one of the worst fates an NFL player could suffer and it appeared the Giants were trying to send a message when they opted to ship Odell Beckham Jr. off to Cleveland in the offseason, as the wide receiver went on record as saying “They thought they’d send me here to die.”
The trade gave Browns fans hope that this year might finally be the one that put an end to all of their suffering, as the up-and-coming Baker Mayfield finally had a standout offensive weapon to work with and it didn’t seem too farfetched to suggest the team might finally be able to make the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
While a postseason berth isn’t technically out of the question, the Browns have plenty of work to do if they don’t want to just let their dreams be dreams, as they’re currently sporting a 6-7 record and will have to make up a couple of games if they want to secure a wild card spot.
It’s certainly a tough task and one that will be made slightly tougher thanks to the recent drama surrounding a supposedly disgruntled Beckham Jr., who has reportedly approached opposing players and coaches to tell them to trade for him during some recent games.
The wide receiver brushed off questions about the rumors following the Browns’ win over the Bengals on Sunday but a video of him telling Jimmy Garapolo he’d be willing to play in San Francisco didn’t do much to dispell them—nor did a report that people close to him think Dallas would be a good fit.
Now, we’ve learned about another potential destination courtesy of Skip Bayless, who claims he’s heard murmurs that Beckham Jr. would like to team up with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
Skip Bayless says Odell Beckham has privately suggested he’d like to play in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers.
OBJ did just sign a huge extension and the Browns just traded for him, but it would cost CLE less than $3M in dead cap to deal him again.
Contract isn’t onerous for GB

The Browns won’t be able to trade Beckham Jr. until March, so while plenty of things can change before then, something tells me this is just the beginning of what promises to be quite the saga.
