A group of Olympic athletes took part in the absolutely disgusting, heinous act of drinking alcohol earlier this week. Now, they’re under investigation.

The athletes were caught drinking outside in the Olympic Village. This is a no-no in Tokyo as it breaks COVID-19 protocols set in place. Athletes are allowed to drink alcohol at the Olympics, but they have to do so alone inside their own room.

Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto held a news conference about the ‘matter’ and even confirmed police were called to the scene. The nationalities of the athletes that were caught weren’t mentioned.

“We are looking into the matter. We will take appropriate steps based on our findings,” he said. Police were also at the scene, he said, adding it was not clear what action they took, if any.

Being an Olympic athlete in Tokyo sure does sound fun.

The chances are that these athletes that were deleting a few adult beverages had already finished their Olympic events. After dedicating their lives to something for four-plus years you can’t blame them for wanting to celebrate with a few cold ones, but that’s not allowed.

Clearly, breathing outside without a mask on is against the law at the Games, even though the vast majority of these athletes are fully vaccinated and are tested every single day.

While these athletes were ultimately caught drinking, at least they were able to breathe a bit of fresh air, unlike skateboarder Candy Jacobs.

Jacobs tested positive shortly after arriving in Japan and was forced to quarantine. After seven days of not breathing fresh air and being stuck inside of her hotel room, she decided to protest. She was awarded 15 minutes of standing in front of an open window while being watched by security.
