Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Aaron Rodgers is making life miserable for the Green Bay Packers organization.

Following a 2022 season that saw Rodgers play below his lofty standards and the Packers miss the playoffs, the 39-year-old four-time NFL MVP is playing coy about his plans for next season.

Despite signing a three-year, $150 million deal with the Packers next season, Rodgers’ future with Green Bay is far from guaranteed, as reports from established NFL insiders such as Adam Schefter and Peter King indicate that Rodgers could be traded.

On Saturday, for example, Adam Schefter reported Saturday that Green Bay shipping Rodgers out of town is “a very real scenario” this offseason.

“Make no mistake: Both sides are fully aware that a trade is a very real scenario this off-season for Aaron Rodgers,” Schefter said on ESPN.

Now, in his Football Morning in America blog, Peter King has also weighed in on Rodgers’ future and has identified two potential AFC East destinations: the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

The possibilities are delicious. Rodgers to the Jets, maybe re-teaming with ex-Pack aide Nathaniel Hackett, who has interviewed for the New York offensive coordinator job. Or Rodgers to the Patriots, which seems very Belichickian, to perhaps give Mac Jones two learning seasons in the shadows.

King also notes that the Raiders and Seahawks could be in contention for Rodgers, who will reportedly cost “at least two first-round picks.” Of the four teams mentioned in his article, King specifically mentions Jets’ owner Woody Johnson (arguably the worst in the league) as someone who would “happily pay that freight.”

If the Jets or Patriots — who both just missed out on the AFC playoffs this year — were to acquire Rodgers, they’d both be immediately considered legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
