Carolina Panthers Head Coach Frank Reich has named Bryce Young as the team’s starting quarterback for the upcoming 2023 NFL season and seemingly beyond.

The announcement was made as the team commenced their training camp at Wofford College, with Reich emphasizing the need for clarity and focus among his players by eliminating any quarterback competition, which means veteran Andy Dalton is going to the bench.

The 2023 NFL Draft’s first overall pick, Bryce Young, is set to make history by becoming the first rookie quarterback to start Week 1 for the Panthers since Cam Newton back in 2011.

The highly talented Young is expected to bring an immediate impact to the team as they embark on a new era with several changes, including a new coaching staff, running back, and two new wide receivers.

Before joining the Carolina Panthers, Young showcased his skills during his time at Alabama, where he played in two full seasons. Over the course of 27 career games, he displayed impressive numbers, throwing for 8,200 yards, 79 touchdowns, and just 12 interceptions.

Though not primarily known as a dual-threat quarterback, Young possesses enough scrambling ability to maneuver out of the pocket when necessary.

The eyes of Panthers fans will undoubtedly be on Bryce Young as he leads the team into the new season, carrying the weight of expectations as a promising young talent with the potential to shape the franchise’s future.
