The LSU Tigers are back in Omaha for the College World Series. The fanbase has made the near 1,000-mile trip from Louisiana to Nebraska in support of its baseball team.

The program last appeared in the event in 2023 when No. 1 overall MLB Draft pick Paul Skenes helped the Tigers win a national championship. He’s back in the city to help LSU defend a different title.

Yes, Skenes led his team to a championship on the diamond, but off the field, another battle was taking place. And the Tigers dominated.

Rocco’s Pizza and Cantina, located just outside Charles Schwab Field, runs a Jell-O shot competition each year in Omaha. They use a large portion of the proceeds to donate to local charities of the eight teams competing in that particular year’s field.

The premise is simple. Fans of each team represented at the College World Series purchase shots at $5 a pop. The team with the most shots purchased by tournament’s end is crowned champion.

In 2023, that was the LSU Tigers, who still own the record for most shots bought with 68,888. For reference, second place Tennessee (2024) is more than 30,000 shots behind.

Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne returned to the College World Series.

LSU’s power couple is in Omaha to root the team on. They were adamant on helping the Tigers retain their Jell-O shot crown.

The duo was spotted at Rocco’s before first pitch helping bartend for thirsty patrons. LSU was set to take on UCLA in the winner’s bracket. They needed fans well-oiled to make some noise for gametime.

Also in attendance was LSU royalty, Todd Graves, the owner and founder of Raising Canes. He bought thousands of shots during his last trip to Omaha. It seems he’s planning to do the same in 2025.

The Tigers’ game vs. UCLA started around 7 PM on Monday. About an hour and a half into the action, LSU fans received another excuse to add to their shot totals.

A rain delay caused the contest to be postponed and pushed to Tuesday morning. That might be bad news for head coach Jay Johnson, who will now have to navigate an unexpected speedbump that will alter his pitching outlook.

For Rocco’s, though, it was cause for celebration!

The bar posted an update just before first pitch of that LSU baseball game. The Tigers’ total sat at 16,717. At night’s end, it was up to 17,746!

More than 1,000 Jell-O shots were consumed during the rain delay. That’s over $5,000 worth of alcohol purchased. The Tigers are eager to defend, and potentially break, their shot record. The got an unexpected excuse to drink on Monday!
