Paxton Lynch is getting ripped to shreds by fans online after being benched in his XFL debut. The quarterback suited up for the Orlando Guardians on Saturday night.

That start didn’t go according to plan as he was pulled from action in a 33-12 loss. Viewers rushed to social media to post their responses to the poor performance.

Lynch, a former first round draft pick, was once considered a hot commodity. The Memphis star was coveted by Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones, which nearly led to the team trading up to land the passer. The Broncos ended up beating Dallas to the punch.

In two seasons with Denver, Lynch posted a 1-3 overall record while throwing four touchdowns and four picks. Lynch couldn’t stick in the NFL, eventually leading him to test the USFL waters.

That, too, was short lived as his struggles under center continued. In his debut with the Michigan Panthers, Paxton Lynch fumbled twice, threw an interception, and posted a QB rating of just 1.7.

That performance led to a reaction from fans, and unfortunately, we’re seeing a similar response on Sunday.

In his XFL debut, Lynch completed 15 of his 21 passes for 136 yards. He threw a touchdown on his opening drive, but things went south from then on.

His team fell behind 21-6, and his final pass of the game wound up being picked off. Quentin Dormady would finish out the game.

Fans were not kind to Lynch online.

One person wrote, “I’m starting to think this Paxton Lynch guy might be a bust.”

Another commented, “Sounds similar to his NFL career.”

This is now the third league in which Paxton Lynch has been benched. Hopefully he’s able to shake it off in game No. 2.
