On Tuesday night, the Phillies jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Braves in the NLCS, and one fan in attendance opted to celebrate the win by running out onto the field at Citizens Bank Park. Unfortunately for him, a security guard took him down with a pretty brutal tackle that apparently caused a fair amount of damage.

It’s been a big month for people tasked with keeping order at sporting events, as that takedown came after a security guard at Ole Miss absolutely obliterated an unsuspecting fan who was storming the field a couple of weeks before a cop at an LSU game hit a streaker with a textbook tackle.

On Wednesday, the folks at Crossing Broad got the chance to chat with the Phillies security guard who laid the boom on the rogue spectator. However, they didn’t stop there, as they also landed an interview with his victim: a Delco resident named Bryan Harris.

Harris said he was sitting in the upper deck and told his buddy he was going to run out onto the field before sneaking down to the third base line toward the end of the game. His goal was to make it onto the diamond and exit on the other side, but as we know by now, those plans were foiled when the security guard deployed the hit stick (which the man at the receiving end compared to getting “hit by a bus”).

The tackle apparently took its toll, as Harris said he not only cut open his lip but lost two of his molars and is dealing with another tooth that’s currently “cracked in half” (he added he also has some pain in his rib cage).

Harris spent around 14 hours in jail before posting bail after getting hit with trespassing charges (he thinks he’ll have to pay a fine but will learn his fate in court next week), and while he would’ve been hit with a lifetime ban from Citizens Bank Park, he revealed he’d already been banned from the stadium after getting into a fight with another guy last season.

Sounds about right.
