The Raiders indeed fired Josh McDaniels today.

Original Story:

The Raiders’ Josh McDaniels tenure looks to be on shaky ground.

McDaniels has had his fair share of struggles, with several concerning stats to his name:

    • Blowing 5 double-digit leads
    • Failing to score 20 points in 9 out of his last 10 games
    • Losing to high-school coach Jeff Saturday in his first-ever NFL game
    • Losing to a D2 undrafted QB in his NFL debut
    • Losing to Baker Mayfield last season after he joined the Rams just 3 days prior

It’s worth noting that when McDaniels took over the Broncos in 2009, he traded away franchise quarterback Jay Cutler, lost 17 of his next 28 games, and was fired mid-season in his second year. With the Raiders, history seems to be repeating itself as he got rid of quarterback Derek Carr and other key pieces, resulting in 16 losses out of 25 games.

The Raiders’ offense is struggling to put points on the board, failing to reach 20 points in 9 games dating back to the end of 2022. The question has to be asked, should owner Mark Davis consider cutting his losses and moving on?

Star players like wideout Davante Adams and running back Josh Jacobs are visibly frustrated, with Adams, one of the NFL’s best players, finishing the Lions game with only 1 catch.

The Jimmy Garoppolo signing by McDaniels to be the starting quarterback has also backfired, as he currently leads the NFL in interceptions with 9, despite missing some games due to injury. Furthermore, Garoppolo been missing wide-open players like Adams for easy touchdowns. McDaniels handed Garoppolo a hefty 3-year, $72.5 million contract in free-agency.

It’s safe to say things aren’t going as planned for the Raiders under McDaniels.
