The Dallas Cowboys have been on the hunt for a notable pass catching option in hopes of bettering the offense for a potential Super Bowl run.

The franchise was trying to secure that target ahead of the postseason, and on Monday, they succeeded. Unfortunately for most fans, it wasn’t the player they’d had in mind at the beginning of the search.

Dallas courted Odell Beckham, Jr. in free agency, and many believed the Cowboys to be the top contender for the talented receiver. OBJ had been very complimentary of the team over the last few weeks, even taking a visit to the Lone Star State on his free agency tour.

Momentum between the two sides reached an all-time high after Beckham was spotted sitting courtside with Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs at a Mavericks game. A deal seemed imminent until reports began to surface about the delayed recovery timeline of his torn ACL.

With doubt slipping in about Beckham’s availability for the end of the regular season, the Cowboys decided to pursue another option. On Monday, it was announced that Dallas would sign former Indianapolis star TY Hilton.

Hilton played for the Colts for 10 seasons, hauling in 631 receptions for 9,691 yards. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection but hasn’t seen the field in 2022. He’ll now try to kickstart his career in Dallas in hopes of landing his first championship.

While Hilton may very well fit into the Cowboys’ passing attack, many were critical of the signing on social media. Most of that criticism was due to the team’s courting of OBJ.

One person wrote, “They thought they ordered OBJ, and the wrong package came in.” Another fan commented, “They got the wrong No. 13.”

TY Hilton will join the roster for the last few weeks of the regular season before the playoffs kick off. He’ll try to help the Cowboys get their first Super Bowl title in nearly three decades.
