Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson responded online after hearing Pete Carroll was being removed as head coach. The duo was together for a decade, winning a Super Bowl title in 2013.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Carroll would be moving on from the head coaching role, though he could remain with the organization in a front office position.

The announcement ends a 14-year run for the coach, who put together 11 winning seasons and 10 playoff appearances. With Carroll out, the future is uncertain.

Some have already linked Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to the opening, naming him as the leading candidate.

Others to keep an eye on include current college head coaches Lincoln Riley and Jim Harbaugh.

After hearing of the initial report, Pat McAfee actually congratulated Carroll – that is if his plan was to remain in the Seahawks organization. Co-host AJ Hawk alluded to a potential in-house replacement.

Of course, if this wasn’t a plan devised by Carroll, all options are on the table.

One thing that is known is that the Seattle head coach won’t be on the sidelines next season. Reflecting on the success had with Pete Carroll and the Seahawks, quarterback Russell Wilson posted a heartfelt message on X.

“One of the Greatest Ever. ‘Keep Shooting’ Coach. Grateful for the memories, Pete. Best is ahead,” Wilson wrote while reposting a laundry list of Carroll’s NFL accolades.

For years, both Wilson and Carroll were the faces of Seattle football. Now, the Seahawks will officially move into a new era.
