Meaningless Safety At The End Of The Giants-Packers Game Robs Unlucky Bettor Of Huge Payday

The Packers and Giants played an exciting game in London Sunday morning, giving NFL bettors a chance to get the day started early. Those that predicted a New York upset are sitting pretty after the G-men knocked off the Pack in come-from-behind fashion.

But there’s one gambler feeling the pain of being oh-so-close to a massive payout.

New York overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to turn a 20-10 disadvantage into a 27-20 lead late in the fourth quarter of action. After holding strong on defense, the Giants got the ball back deep in their own territory as they looked to run what time they could from the clock.

Being pinned inside their own five-yard line, though, made that difficult. New York kneeled down on three straight plays before attempting a punt with just 15 seconds remaining.

What happened next would kill an incredible ticket.

This bettor predicted not only a Giants win, but the final score, too. They locked in a 27-20 New York win at +18000 odds. The $5 bet had a chance to turn into a near $1K payday.

But the Giants had other plans.

Rather than punt the ball away, New York opted to take a safety to push the score to 27-22. That would wind up being the final as the Packers were unable to move the ball over the final 10 seconds of action.

A brutal end what looked to be a profitable Sunday morning.
