SEC officials are being reamed online for an egregious missed call in a basketball game between Alabama and Florida. Videos show a Crimson Tide player blatantly elbowing a defenseless Gator opponent as he lay on the floor.

The crew didn’t react to the play despite the Gator player’s immediate reaction to the painful cheap shot. The no-call sparked a major fire on social media.

Wednesday night’s matchup was an entertaining one that saw the Tide outlast Florida in overtime. Alabama trailed by double digits late in the second half but used a run to tie things up in the final minutes.

They’d then score the first seven points in the extra session and escape with a 98-93 win.

Some on the Florida side don’t think it should’ve gotten to that point, though. A missed call earlier in the action could’ve not only given the Gators a few free throws, but also removed an Alabama contributor from the game.

An immediate response followed online.

“Was this not reviewed?” asked college basketball writer Seth Davis. “Multi game suspension coming.”

“This is suspension-worthy… at the very least,” wrote Barrett Sallee.

“There is no room for this at all. Never even looked at. This was a dirty play.”

It’s not the first controversy to involve Alabama’s basketball team this season. There have been multiple instances where the staff has been seen shoving either players or fans on the floor, one of which included head coach Nate Oats himself.

They’ve worn the villain tag well this season, running through the SEC at an 11-2 clip thus far. That’s been good enough for first place in the conference standings as they currently hold a one-game lead over Tennessee.

The Crimson Tide are looking for their third SEC regular season title in the last four years, but many think league officials should make that a bit more difficult with a suspension for this particular play.
