Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will return to Boulder next season, and he’s poised for another monster campaign. Some in the industry have gone as far as to name him the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, Vegas doesn’t seem as high on his personal or team success next year. The Way-too-early Heisman odds have been released, and the gunslinger is nowhere to be found.

Atop the list are a trio of passers from the nation’s top schools. Quinn Ewers and Jalen Milroe led their teams to the College Football Playoff this past season, though both saw early exits in the opening round.

Georgia’s Carson Beck also sees +750 odds after leading the Bulldogs to a 13-1 season and a 63-3 blowout of Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

Also listed near the top of the rankings are some surprising names like Clemson’s Cade Klubnik and former Clemson passer turned FSU signal caller DJ Uigalelei, as well as first-year starters Garrett Nussmeier and Nico Iamaleava.

Visibly absent from the favorites? Shedeur Sanders.

Despite posting impressive numbers during his first season with the Buffs, the oddsmakers don’t see him as a Heisman threat.

That could be due to a lack of faith in his own personal ability, or a belief that Colorado will see another losing season in 2024. Whatever the case, his Heisman odds sit at 70/1 to open the offseason.

Shedeur Sanders’ Heisman odds not reflective of his talent.

While not in consideration for college football’s most prestigious award, it doesn’t necessarily mean folks aren’t taking note of his upside.

As a first-year Power Five player, Sanders posted a 3,200-yard season, tossing 27 scores to just three interceptions.

He took the sport by storm early in the year, leading his offense to 124 points (41 PPG) over a 3-0 start. While success in the win-loss column wouldn’t continue as the Buffs finished the year 1-8, his projections at the next level remained strong.

NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper offered a piping hot take in 2023, saying Sanders was ‘guaranteed’ to be taken No. 1 overall should he return for his final collegiate season.

He has, and he’ll look to continue building upon what he started last year. While Sanders will have weapons at the skill positions, he’ll hope the issues along the offensive line get cleaned up.

Colorado allowed the most sack yardage in the NCAA by a wide margin as he was often seen running for his life in the backfield.

Head coach Deion Sanders has done what he can to bolster that front five on the recruiting trail, but Vegas hasn’t bought in (yet!).

We’ll see if he can beat those Heisman odds next season.
