EA Sports is set to release a college football video game for the first time in a decade, and one notable name is gaining traction to grace the cover.

Shedeur Sanders is rumored to be a top option for the NCAA ’24 cover athlete spot after wrapping up his first season in Boulder. While nothing is set in stone, a number of sports fans are commenting on the speculation.

The Blue Bloods Bias social media account recently posted about the possibility of the Colorado quarterback becoming the face of the game. The page cited both his on-field production and NIL worth as reasoning behind a potential selection.

The thinking also notes a predicted change in cover athlete selection, with the account believing a returning player will be chosen. In the past, due to name, image, and likeness restrictions, the cover player has been a recent graduate or NFL selection.

That line of thinking would eliminate Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels, last year’s winner Caleb Williams, or (likely) soon-to-be rookie Marvin Harrison Jr.

Sanders is set to take part in Spring practice after turning down the NFL Draft. Should he see similar success in 2024, Mel Kiper believes he’ll be the top pick in next year’s event.

He’s currently valued at $4M in NIL worth according to the On3 tracker, making him one of the wealthiest athletes in college sports.

While Sanders could be a frontrunner to land NCAA Football ’24 cover athlete honors, there are many that believe others are more deserving.

Check out the immediate online reaction to the speculation.

“He went 1-8 in the PAC12 and 4-8 overall. Makes perfect sense.”

“No, please no… Way more deserving athletes…. It’s gonna sell either way…”

“No, dude didn’t even make a bowl game. He isn’t the face of college football.”

EA Sports is set to release the game next year, so there will plenty of time to debate who the cover athlete should be.
