Deion Sanders’ son, Shilo, is questionable for this weekend’s game against USC due to an undisclosed injury. The fifth-year senior safety was immediately transported to the emergency room after arriving back in Boulder on early Sunday morning.

As Shilo Sanders got off of the plane home from Eugene, Oregon, he revealed that he experienced pain after landing awkwardly on his side while making a tackle in the blowout loss to the Ducks. Whatever it was that ailed him led him to urinate blood.

I can’t say I didn’t play hard. I’m peeing blood right now. I made a tackle and I landed on my kidney or something. I got to go to the ER to get checked.

When asked if he was okay, he said “nah.”

No further context or update was given on Sunday or Monday. However, Coach Prime was asked about his son — who is also the team’s second-leading tackler — during his press conference on Tuesday.

Deion Sanders provided a health update on his son, Shilo.

His comments were not encouraging. Whether Shilo will play on Saturday or not is up in the air.

He’s doing better. We went to the hospital right after we landed. He’s doing much better. We’re praying that he heals and he’s playing this weekend. He’s a valuable part of our secondary and our team defensively.

(Shilo’s) one of the voices on the defense and he plays with a certain physicality that we desire and we want. And he’s given me daily updates trust me, and I’m praying that he can play as a father as well as a coach.

Neither Coach Prime nor Colorado has commented further on the status of Shilo Sanders. The injury is undisclosed, but in most instances of this nature, a hit to the back or side causes bruising of the kidney.

That is entirely speculation. Blood in the urine could be a multitude of different injuries.

More than likely, though, it is something to do with the kidney.

Through the first four games of his first season at Colorado, Shilo has recorded 26 total tackles (21 solo), one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown. His presence on the Buffs defense is a crucial piece of the puzzle.

If he and Travis Hunter Jr. are both out with internal organ injuries, it does not bode well for Coach Prime’s defense. Health comes first.
