The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a setback in their preparations for the season as rookie cornerback Cory Trice Jr. sustained a serious injury during practice.

Trice was carted off the field after injuring his lower right leg, prompting immediate concern from the team’s coaching staff.

After thorough evaluation, the decision was made to place him on the injured reserve list, officially ending his rookie season before it even began.

Cory Trice Jr., a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had displayed promise and potential during his brief time in the Steelers’ training camp.

In response to the unfortunate injury, the Steelers wasted no time in bolstering their defensive secondary.

The team swiftly signed cornerback Isaiah Dunn, who previously played for the Jets and Seahawks. Additionally, they secured safety Trenton Thompson, formerly with the Giants.

Both new defensive backs are expected to add depth and talent to the Steelers’ defense, filling the void left by Trice’s absence.

Additionally, rookie running back Alfonzo Graham also faced an injury during the early stages of training camp, leading the team to waive/injure him.
