Monday was setting up to be Swift-Kelce family extravaganza. But, that won’t be happening, at least to the extent many thought it would, as Taylor Swift will be unable to make the much-anticipated Chiefs-Eagles game due to a change in her concert schedule in Rio de Janeiro.

Swift’s Saturday concert was rescheduled due to dangerously hot weather conditions in Rio, and rescheduled for Monday night, the night of the Chiefs-Eagles game.

It was supposed to be a pretty big event, if you’re a fan of the NFL-Taylor Swift crossover, that is. With her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and Eagles star brother Jason playing, both the Swift and Kelce families were expected to be in attendance.

But, on Friday night, a concertgoer at the first of three scheduled shows in Rio de Janeiro died after collapsing due to a head index that approached 140 degrees, Fahrenheit. With similar weather in the forecast for Saturday, Swift postponed her show, rescheduling it to Monday, meaning she is going to miss the most-anticipated NFL game of the season so far.

While the league office and ESPN surely can’t be happy about that, she made the right decision for sure in terms of protecting the health of her fans.

Swift did perform Sunday night in Rio, despite pretty heavy rain. The 33-year-old sang Bigger Than the Whole Sky, one of her saddest memories, in memory of the fan who died.

The home-standing Chiefs (8-1) are 2.5 point favorites over the Eagles (7-2) in a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl classic.
