The Houston Texans and the NFL are going to be under fire this week for how they handled Tom Savage’s scary hit against the Niners this weekend.
In the second quarter of today’s Niners-Texans game, Savage took a brutal hit to the head while getting sacked and began to shake uncontrollably on the field.

Savage was somehow allowed to play on the next series before getting taken out later in the game by team doctors to get evaluated for a concussion.
Another unusual concussion situation, this time for Texans. Tom Savage allowed to return after scary impact to head, then left game again

This is very alarming. The Texans also put Tom Savage back into a game after he suffered a concussion last season. The NFL needs to investigate this. https://t.co/esUnijpAuP

the video of tom savage is horrifying.
he’s down, on the ground, having a seizure.
and it’s not a big deal, because that’s football.

The Savage injury shows how the NFL's head trauma protocols are still a disaster. Savage was knocked out, had a seizure, or some combo of both, and still returned to the game for a series. That's a disgrace.

Concussion expert Chris Nowinsk, who has been a vocal critic of the NFL’s concussion protocol, blasted the Houston Texans for allowing Savage to return to the game after the hit.

Disgusted that the @HoustonTexans allowed Tom Savage to return to the game after 2 plays after showing these horrifying #concussion signs (is that a seizure?) after a head impact. I would not let my worst enemy go through the 2017 #NFL sideline concussion protocol…
Update: Savage has officially been ruled out for the rest of the game with a concussion.

After Savage was pulled, he tried to go on to the field and had to be forced back to the sideline and be ushered to the locker room. He said last week there’s no way he’s coming off the field on his own. Obviously, he wasn’t happy, but the Texans made the correct decision.
