The Carolina Panthers Cleverly Troll The NFL Over New Strict Social Media Policy

Earlier this week, ESPN reported that the NFL is cracking down on teams’ social media use by barring them from sharing their own videos or GIFS during games.

Beginning Wednesday, NFL teams can be fined for violating a newly introduced part of the league’s social media policy.

Teams can’t take highlights of what happens on the field and make it their own by using their own video or posting highlights from television directly to social media. Teams also can’t turn highlights into animated GIFs.

Violations of the policy will cost teams up to $25,000 upon the first instance, up to $50,000 the second time and up to $100,000 for each additional violation of the policy.

During last night’s game, the Carolina Panthers trolled the NFL’s new social media policy with this clever tweet.

Update: The Panthers eventually took down the Tweet but here’s a screenshot of it.

Yup, that’s pretty much a middle finger to the league and their bullshit new rule. Good work.
