The New York Jets know they’re a “quarterback away” from becoming a strong playoff team, and they believe Derek Carr can be the one to lead them to a Championship.

The Raiders recently released Carr, their all-time leading passer, and are looking to start a new era.

The 4-time Pro-Bowl quarterback is now free to sign with any team he wants ahead of the rest of the free-agent market because he doesn’t need to wait for his contract to expire in the new league year like the rest of the pending free-agents do.

Carr visited the Jets over the weekend and the meeting reportedly went really well and was positive.

The Jets believe that Carr is the type of quarterback that can lead them to a Championship.

Considering the Jets were close to making the playoffs with guys like Zach Wilson and Mike White leading them for much of the season, an upgrade like Carr at the position might just do the trick.

New York Is Ready To Take The Next Step

New York is stacked with young talent such as Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore and Breece Hall.

They also have a top defense, something Carr hasn’t had in his career. He’s had an NFL worst 26.1 points allowed per game during his era with the Raiders.
