There aren’t many people who’ve been able to match what Tiger Woods has achieved on the golf course over the course of his legendary career, and he’s made some wildly difficult shots look incredibly straightforward en route to racking up 15 majors and 82 tournament victories on the PGA Tour.

Tiger has been at the center of plenty of iconic moments, and I think if you asked golf fans to name the best shot of his career, most of them would point to the chip-in he holed for birdie on the 16th hole at Augusta National Golf Club during the final rounds of The Masters in 2005, which helped him secure a playoff with Chris DiMarco before winning his fourth green jacket.

The stakes were a bit lower when Woods stepped up to the tee box on the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale in 1997, but it’s hard to top the wild scene that unfolded when the thousands of spectators who’d gathered to watch him at the Phoenix Open witnessed him make a hole-in-one on the hallowed par-3.

However, you have plenty of options to pick from when it comes to selecting the best shot of Tiger’s career, and it’s hard to argue with the one Woods went with when he was recently asked to weigh in on that particular topic.

The shot in question unfolded on the final hole of the second round at the 2002 PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Tiger’s drive on the 18th hole ended up in a very awkward spot in a bunker, but he pulled out a 3-iron and took an awkward stance to address the ball before sending it onto the green and sinking a lengthy putt for birdie (he ended up finishing the tournament in second place and a stroke behind winner Rich Beem).

Shots like that are why Tiger Woods is one of the best to ever do it.
