LSU running back Trey Holly has been arrested on three felony charges in Louisiana. The second-year player has been linked to a shooting that took place at an apartment complex in his hometown on February 9th.

Holly reportedly turned himself in to authorities this week and is being held on a $512,000 bond.

Here’s more from Nola.com:

Holly was charged Thursday with one count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of illegal use of a weapon, Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates told The Advocate.

Holly turned himself in Thursday, Gates said, and was booked at the Union Parish Detention Center. Gates said the investigation remains ongoing and possibly another shooter was involved. Gates said the other suspect has not been identified, but he anticipated “additional arrests.”

LSU has since responded, saying Holly has been “suspended indefinitely.”

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish. This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.”

Holly was a four-star recruit in the Tigers’ 2023 recruiting class. He’s also the leading rusher in the history of Louisiana high school football.

That success landed him an immediate NIL deal with a local law firm upon committing to LSU.

Trey Holly inked a deal with injury attorney Gordon McKernan in 2022.

The agreement came while Holly was still playing high school football at Union Parish.

“Perseverance and determination are admirable qualities,” McKernan said after giving his NIL support. “I can only imagine the other great things he [Trey] will achieve, both on and off the field, with that kind of mindset.”

That announcement came just after Holly broke the state rushing record as he racked up over 10,000 yards on the ground.

At LSU, he rushed 11 times for 110 yards in Year 1. He was named SEC Freshman on the Week in October after running for 91 yards and a score vs. Army.

Unfortunately, his football future is now in serious doubt.
