Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has expressed his optimism about the team’s chances to become legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl during the 2023 NFL season.

In an interview with Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, Tagovailoa shared his belief in the team’s potential and highlighted the improvements they have made on both sides of the ball.

Following their successful playoff run in the previous season, the Miami Dolphins are entering the 2023 NFL season with high expectations.

The team made significant strides during the offseason, especially bolstering their defense by acquiring All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade.

“I think we’re definitely legit contenders,” stated Tagovailoa confidently. He acknowledged the strength of the team’s defensive lineup and expressed his excitement about the offensive unit, which he believes has the potential to be “very, very scary” and “pretty dangerous.”

The Dolphins’ success in the upcoming season will largely depend on the health of Tua, who missed five starts, including a playoff game, in the previous season due to multiple head injuries.

Despite these setbacks, Tagovailoa had an impressive year, throwing for 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions.

While the Dolphins are poised to be formidable contenders in the AFC, the conference, especially the AFC East division, has become more competitive with the addition of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.

Other accomplished quarterbacks like Chiefs Patrick Mahomes, Bengals Joe Burrow, Bills Josh Allen, Chargers Justin Herbert, Jaguars Trevor Lawrence, and Ravens Lamar Jackson will also be a challenge that Miami will likely need to overcome.

With a strong and talented roster, coupled with the determination to stay healthy and consistent, the Dolphins are indeed in contention for football’s ultimate prize.
