Last week, Deshaun Watson’s agent refuted a report the 26-year-old quarterback had two teams high on his list of preferred trade destinations.

Of course, Watson’s legal situation was about to get a lot more complicated when he said that as the Texans QB still has 22 civil lawsuits and a grand jury investigation hanging over his head.

This week, however, the rumor mill script is being flipped as it is now being reported that there are two NFL teams that are showing interest in trading for Deshaun Watson.

The two teams that were allegedly highest on Deshaun Watson’s list of preferred trade destinations were Minnesota and Tampa Bay.

The two teams that are now allegedly interested in acquiring Watson are the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers.

Deshaun Watson possibly has as many as three teams interested in trading for him

Knowing what we already know about the quarterback situation with the Commanders a report saying they are interested in Deshaun Watson is pretty much a given.

Carolina, on the other hand, is less than a year removed from trading three draft picks to the Jets for Sam Darnold, the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Network also reports…

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman previously conducted significant due diligence on Watson before last season, even sending an investigator to Houston to look into the legal situation and contacting Rusty Hardin, Watson’s attorney, per sources.

However, Watson has never been inclined to waive his no-trade clause for the Eagles. Moreover, Philadelphia has publicly committed to Jalen Hurts as their quarterback.

The Denver Broncos have had interest in Watson for over a year, per sources. Yet, they have some understandable hesitation to pursue him given the potential reputation fallout due to the graphic and unproven accusations he’s facing and the fact that the team is for sale. They’re also actively monitoring the Aaron Rodgers situation and would love to trade for him.

Meanwhile, the Houston Texans really need to get Deshaun Watson off of their books. If he sits out yet another year, with pay, it will cost the franchise $35 million in addition to the $10 million they already paid him to NOT play in 17 games in 2021.
