There have been some impressive testing numbers posted at the NFL Combine throughout the years with players doing their best to make a name for themselves in front of pro scouts.

North Carolina’s Gerald Sensabaugh set the record with a 46-inch vertical in the 2005 Combine. UCONN CB Byron Jones set the broad jump mark in 2015 with a 12-foot-3-inch leap.

But we can all agree that the 40-yard dash takes the cake for viewers as the most entertaining event.

Well, this year, we may have just witnessed the fastest recorded dash time in the history of the Combine from Baylor WR Tyquan Thornton.

Thornton posted an insane unofficial time of 4.21 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 4.22 seconds set by John Ross in 2017.

Check out the impressive display of speed below.

That mark topped other incredible times in this year’s class, including a 4.26 second performance from Ohio State WR Chris Olave. Other totals include 4.32 second times set by Calvin Austin and Velus Jones. Each of those times were unofficial, as well.

Here’s the sky view angle of Thornton’s eye-popping run.

The NFL Reacts To Thornton’s Speed

As you could expect, the NFL world was shocked by the record-breaking time with players and media alike taking to social media to post their reactions.

Even record holder (or maybe former record holder) John Ross chimed in on Thornton’s time. Ross was a good sport about his mark possibly being broken, saying that he’s happy for the former Baylor star.

When The Unofficial Times Were Released, Thornton’s Time Was Just Short Of The Record

Thornton’s time was still the most impressive of the day, besting the marks of Chris Olave, Velus Jones, and Calvin Austin. Unfortunately, the official dash of 4.28 was not quite fast enough to overtake John Ross’s 2017 record-setting performance.

Still, this incredible mark should only help to boost Thornton’s draft stock heading into April.
