Utah knew Arkansas's plays after one week of film study.
The Utah Utes annihilated Arkansas in Week 2 of the college football season. Much of the win can be attributed to pregame preparations.
The Utes‘ defense knew what the Razorbacks were going to run on offense. It showed in the dominant performance as Arkansas struggled to move the football.
The game got ugly quick. Utah led by four touchdowns by halftime. Arkansas had no chance at a comeback. The Utes had inside intel on offensive tells.
Utah earned a statement win over Arkansas.
The Utes were expected to win the game, which was played 1,300 miles away from the Arkansas campus in Salt Lake City. The final result was not expected to be as ugly as it was.
The Razorbacks entered at 12.5-point underdogs. They left with a 33-point shellacking. The offense mustered just 305 yards, much of which came with the game already in hand.
Arkansas rushed for 61 yards on 28 carries. Starting signal caller KJ Jackson completed just 41% of his attempts for 139 yards.
The Hogs’ first drive went for 64 yards and a field goal. From there, they managed just 98 yards on their next six drives before halftime. Utah led 29-3 at the break.
The deficit would only grow in the second half. Utah added a pair of touchdowns to increase its advantage to 43-3 before a late Arkansas score. Nearly half of the Razorbacks’ total yardage came on the final three drives in mop up duty.
After the game, Utah players said they knew what the offense was going call. Tells from the offensive line and running backs filled defenders in on whether it would be a run or a pass.

The Razorbacks had played just one game under its new staff. It took a matter of days for the Utes to figure out the gameplan.
That doesn’t bode well for the Razorbacks, who enter SEC play this week against Georgia. We’ll see if they can clean up the issues and disguise play calls more successfully.
If not, it will be another long day for the Arkansas offense in Fayetteville.
