The Washington Commanders had one of yesterday’s best sports moments of the day.

That moment came when Ron Rivera got the opportunity to tell some of his players that they made the Pro Bowl this season. That announcement was particularly special for Jeremy Reaves.

It’s easy to see why Reaves and his teammates would have such a strong reaction to him being selected for the Pro Bowl. Reaves’ path to the Pro Bowl was a truly unbelievable one.

Jeremy Reaves went undrafted back in 2018 after being named the Sun Belt’s Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season at South Alabama. He was picked up by the Eagles shortly after the draft, but was waived at the start of September. That wouldn’t be the last time he was waived by an NFL team.

He signed with the Commanders a couple of weeks later and spent most of the season on their practice squad before finally being promoted to the active roster and making his debut in December. Unfortunately, he was waived again before the start of the next season and then re-signed to the practice squad.

The next 2 years of his career were more of the same. He was promoted in the middle of the year only to be let go before the start of the next season and then return to the practice squad.

That finally changed this season with Reaves making the Commanders’ active roster to start the year for the first time in his career.

Now he’ll be heading to the Pro Bowl in his first full season on an active roster in the NFL. It’s a pretty incredible story for the Washington Commanders’ special teamer.
