The Backyard Brawl is one of the NCAA’s most intense rivalries. It doesn’t matter the sport, fans on either side of the West VirginiaPittsburgh series make it a point to throw stones at their hated counterparts.

Amanda Ross Mazey, wife of Mountaineers head baseball coach Randy Mazey, fully embraced that spirit during a midweek contest against the Panthers on Tuesday.

That started in the pregame leadup and lasted throughout a WVU win.

The Mountaineers have a tradition of singing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” only with a twist.

Rather than the “Bah, bah, bah” that typically follows, you’ll hear the words replaced with the phrase, “Eat S— Pitt!”

It can be heard throughout basketball arenas and football stadiums in Morgantown, and apparently, the baseball diamond is no different!

A record crowd of more than 4,600 fans was on hand to take in the sights and sounds at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark.

And the scenes didn’t disappoint!

The Mountaineers picked up their sixth straight win in the series with a 6-3 victory. West Virginia went up 6-0 through the first four frames, and they’d keep the Panthers off the scoreboard up until the eighth inning.

Those in attendance enjoyed the matchup to the fullest, and Amanda Mazey was leading the charge. She was seen belting out that explicit chant alongside 4,000 over her closest friends!

Making the moment more special is the fact that this will be the Mazey’s final Backyard Brawl as Randy plans to retire as head coach when the season ends.

You couldn’t have asked for a better sendoff!
