Former Nebraska Cornhusker Will Compton spent 5 seasons with the Washington Redskins before moving to the Titans, Saints, Raiders, Titans (again), and Raiders (again). Currently, he is a co-host of the immensely popular Bussin’ With The Boys podcast from Barstool Sports.

Will Compton had been on various NFL rosters until he was cut from the Las Vegas Raiders on January 11th of 2022. He says he didn’t expect to be picked up by an NFL team this season but stayed in shape just in case.

Then on November 21st, the Atlanta Falcons came calling. It was reported he would sign with the Falcons’ practice squad until eight days later. At that point, Will Compton tweeted a message to the NFLPA asking for help. It appeared he had lost the Atlanta Falcons job “due to some of (his) business endeavors off the field.”

Those ‘business endeavors off the field’ are pointing to his podcasting/content job with Barstool Sports who is owned by Penn Entertainment, one of the largest gambling companies in the United States. In this new Bussin’ With The Boys clip, Will Compton lays out how his contract with the Atlanta Falcons was ready to go until the NFL stepped in and stopped it:

The NFL can point fingers to the gambling entanglements all they want but at the end of the day, Roger Goodell will never forget or forgive the time Dave Portnoy and co. filming a live sit-in at the NFL headquarters in NYC:

The NFL currently has partnerships with DraftKings, FanDuel, and Caesars. That list seems to be growing all the time.

It sure sounds like Will Compton was able to structure a contract with the Atlanta Falcons in a way that separated his content/Barstool Sports job from football. Once all the dots are connected, it’s pretty suspicious the NFL chose to block Will Compton’s return.
