WNBA star Brianna Turner is voicing her opposition to the WNBA possibly wearing a USA 250 to honor the country’s 250th anniversary.
According to a report from Sportico, the WNBA was set to introduce a USA 250 patch during this year’s WNBA All-Star game.

The WNBA is planning to have its biggest stars wear USA 250 patches during this year’s All-Star Game, according to multiple people familiar with the plans, joining a handful of other leagues committed to publicly commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The red, white and blue patches were unveiled earlier this year by Fanatics in partnership with President Donald Trump. The league will have the patch added to jerseys during its All-Star Game on July 25 in Chicago, said the people, who were granted anonymity because the details have not yet been announced.
After Sportico’s report went viral, Turner took to social media to blast the idea.
“Whoever called for the WNBA all star uniforms to have the USA 250 patch should have thought that through considering no WNBA players would have been free 250 years ago,” Turner wrote on “X.” The majority wouldn’t even have their freedom 100 years ago.”
“Yesss I know this was probably a financial decision at the end of the day but still, “We are some of the most elite female athletes 250 years ago we would have been breeders or in the fields working all day. Be so serious rn.”
The WNBA says they are now reviewing how to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary and has not made any final decisions.
“Like other major sports leagues, we are exploring how best to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary,” the WNBA said in a statement. “Nothing has been finalized at this time.”
