South Carolina Advances To The Final Four With Help From A Mind-Boggling Missed Travel Call

The seventh-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks brought Darius Rucker to tears after after a 77-70 win over No. 4 seed Florida in the East Region on Sunday. The victory catapulted the Gamecocks to their first Final Four appearance in school history.

The game didn’t come without a bit of late-game controversy, however. With the Gamecocks clinging to a 70-68 lead with 53 seconds left, they attempted a risky full-court inbound pass that was barely corralled by South Carolina’s Duane Notice.

After the catch, Notice took about 41 steps, all of which the referee missed, and was eventually fouled by Florida’s Chris Chiozza, sending him to the line. Notice drilled both free throws, extending the lead, and it was over from there. All of Gainesville is likely scrambling at the moment to send this ref a piece of dog shit via the U.S. Postal Service, as the travel call would have given the Gators a shot to either tie or take the lead.
