‘It’s Always Sunny’ Is Dedicating An Episode To The Eagles Super Bowl Victory

Last year, the city of Philadelphia descended into absolute chaos after the Eagles managed to top the Patriots and bring home the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in the history of the franchise. All of the grease in the world couldn’t stop Philly fans from scaling poles and engaging in as much debaucherous behavior as possible to celebrate the win.

One of my favorite parts of the celebration actually came after things had died down a bit when someone decided to round up the best clips from the night and recreate the intro to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Now, it looks like the show itself is giving the Eagles Super Bowl victory the treatment it truly deserves.

FXX recently released a synopsis for the upcoming season that promises an episode where Frank does what he can to help The Gang get their party on after the win (which I’m sure will be a flawless plan that is executed perfectly):

Even without Dennis Reynolds, the Gang has its hands full as Charlie hopes to have a child with The Waitress, Mac sets out to understand his newfound sexuality, Dee takes feminism to new heights, and Frank goes to great lengths for the Gang to experience the greatest moment in Philadelphia sports history – an Eagles Super Bowl victory.

This is far from the first time It’s Always Sunny has used Philadelphia sports for inspiration. The show paid tribute to the Phillies after they ended the city’s championship drought in “The World Series Defense” and Dennis, Mac, and Dee tried out for the Eagles in the all-time classic “The Gang Gets Invincible.”

Here’s to hoping Green Man makes his triumphant return.
