Apollo 11 Astronaut Michael Collins Expects Humans To Live On Another Planet But Aliens May Determine Where We Colonize

NASA astronaut Michael Collins believes that there are aliens out there in space. In September, the Apollo 11 astronaut said that he believes in life outside of Earth. Collins doubled down on his belief in extraterrestrial life by saying that aliens may determine which planets or moons that humans attempt to colonize.

Collins operated the Command Module Columbia during the historic Apollo 11 moon mission in 1969, which was the first human mission to the Moon. Collins operated the Command Module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while fellow astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong explored the Moon’s surface. Now, the 88-year-old Apollo 11 astronaut claims that aliens will have a say where humankind attempts to explore in space.

Collins interacted with his Twitter followers by having a Q&A, where one person asked the question: “Which do you consider more important: Seeking life beyond Earth, or seeking a new place to live (beyond Earth)?

The distinguished astronaut who was also involved in NASA’s Gemini program responded by saying that it may not be our choice where we explore in the cosmos, but rather what life forms allow us to explore.

“I think of it all as Outward Bound, a journey that may reveal both life and place,” Collins wrote on Twitter. “Ultimately, a place to live may be the final goal but may be dependent upon the life forms found there. I just hope we never have to make the decision to leave this Earth.”

In 1999, Collins hammered home his opinion that we are not alone in the universe. “It seems to me the height of arrogance to say that our little stupid Sun off in one obscure corner of an odd galaxy called the Milky Way should be the only one in the whole universe capable of developing what we sometimes refer to as intelligent life,” Collins said.

Collins isn’t the only Apollo 11 astronaut who believes that alien lifeforms potentially exist. Not only does Buzz Aldrin believe in aliens, but he once said that he may have seen a UFO during the Apollo 11 mission.

Aldrin answered questions in a 2014 Reddit AMA, where he said he might have witnessed a UFO during the Apollo 11 mission.

“On Apollo 11 in route to the Moon, I observed a light out the window that appeared to be moving alongside us,” Aldrin said. “There were many explanations of what that could be, other than another spacecraft from another country or another world – it was either the rocket we had separated from or the 4 panels that moved away when we extracted the lander from the rocket and we were nose to nose with the two spacecraft.”

“So in the close vicinity, moving away, were 4 panels,” Buzz added. “And I feel absolutely convinced that we were looking at the sun reflected off of one of these panels. Which one? I don’t know. So technically, the definition could be unidentified.”

If two of the greatest astronauts of all-time believe in aliens, that’s enough for me.
