One of Brad Pitt's children is seeking to have his name removed from their surname

Another of Brad Pitt’s adopted children with Angelina Jolie has filed to drop his last name. She is the fourth of Pitt and Jolie’s six children to take legal steps to drop “Pitt” from their surname.

According to reports, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 17 — eight days after her 18th birthday — to legally change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, citing “personal” reasons. A hearing is scheduled for November 2.

Vivienne would be the fourth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children to change their names, in addition to Shiloh, Maddox, and Zahara.

She had already been using the surname Jolie professionally and was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother.

Knox, Vivienne’s twin brother, has not filed legal paperwork but reportedly went by Knox Jolie on his high school graduation certificate in June 2026. Pax is the only sibling who still reportedly spends time with the Pitt side of the family.

“Angie [Jolie] hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry,” a source said in a statement to E! News. “She just wants everyone to heal.”

Pitt and Jolie separated in 2016 and finalized their divorce in December 2024 after years of contentious legal battles involving both their custody arrangement and their Château Miraval winery.

Pitt will next be seen in Heart of the Beast, which hits theaters on September 25 and sees the Academy Award-winner re-teaming with Fury director David Ayer. Heart of the Beast follows Special Forces officer James Belmont (Pitt), and his retired combat dog Odin after a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness.

He’ll then be reprising his Oscar-winning role of Cliff Booth in the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which will hit theaters on November 25 and Netflix on December 23.

Jolie has the film Anxious People in post-production, which also stars Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Segel, Carol Kane, Stephanie Allynne, Joanna Scanlan, Lennie James, and Jessica Gunning. That project has not been given an official release date yet, though.
