China’s newest EVs can now project full-color movies and games from their headlights. Not only that, they can also project arrows, warnings, or signals onto the road while driving.

At the recently completed Beijing Auto Show, Huawei showcased the xPixel headlights, which can project full-color movies, TV shows, or sporting events from a parked vehicle, akin to a private drive-in theater. No external equipment needed.

In addition to its amazing entertainment features, xPixel is made to complement Huawei’s driver-assistance systems. In bad weather or when road markings are faded, the headlights’ ability to visually project lane markings onto the road can be especially helpful.

The technology can also project guidance lines onto the road, providing drivers with a visible route to follow. They can also project crosswalk cues to indicate to pedestrians when it’s safe to cross in front of a car.

Inside EVs reports the Aito M9 sport-utility will be the first vehicle to be outfitted with the full-color version, followed closely by the Luxeed V9 minivan and the upcoming Qijing GT7 shooting brake. In America, this incredible headlight technology will come… well… we have no idea.
