Actor Christian Bale is doing what most billionaires on this planet fail to do: put a sizable chunk of his money towards bettering his local communities. According to reports, the Oscar-winner donated roughly $22 million to a foster care village in Los Angeles.
According to reports, Academy Award winning actor Christian Bale, best known for his portrayal of Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, donated $22 million to a foster care village that he helped create in Palmdale, California.
“It’s our job to turn their heartbreak and their pain into love and hope and a sense of future,” Bale said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.

Together California, which Bale co-founded in 2008, broke ground on the project in 2024 and officially opened it last week. The 11,000-square-foot village includes 12 homes designed to keep siblings together while in foster care, with programs offered there to ensure support and stability.
Bale’s $22 million donation represents roughly 18% of approximate $120 million net worth. News of Bale’s philanthropy went viral on social media, with one popular tweet hailing him as a “real life Bruce Wayne” for contributing a much larger percentage of his net worth to public good than most billionaires.
