‘Extraction 2’ Director Names The 80s/90s Action Legends He Wants To Join The Franchise (Exclusive)

Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake and Director Sam Hargrave on the set of Extraction 2

Given that Tyler Rake — the human weapon at the center of the Extraction movies — is an obvious echo of the great butt-kicking cinematic heroes that came before him, it should come as no surprise that Sam Hargrave, the director of the films, is hoping to loop one of those iconic 80s/90s action stars into the franchise.

During an interview with BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, Hargrave said that — if the sequel is successful and a third film is greenlit — there are tons of iconic action stars from decades past that he would love to fold into the franchise, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis [Willis has retired and was first mentioned by me, the interviewer], and Nic Cage.

“Are there any dream castings for this third film? Any action star that you’re simply dying to work with?” BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast asked.

“I think I can say this without spoiling it because no one has been approached, no deal has been made,” Hargrave told us.

“There are so many different iconic action stars that I would love to work with and see in that. You did list them earlier: the Schwarzeneggers, the Stallones, the Bruce Willises, the Nic Cages. Of that iconic era of 80s and 90s action films, any one of those would be amazing to see join this universe, but I can’t say because none of that stuff has been finalized.”

The mention of Schwarzenegger is particularly interesting as both he and Hemsworth have been recently featured in an ad campaign for Netflix that highlights Extraction 2 and Arnold’s new action-comedy series Fubar.

In addition to Chris Hemsworth as extraction-extraordinaire Tyler Rake, Extraction 2  which hits Netflix on Friday, June 16 — stars Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Idris Elba in a recently-announced role that’s set to further expand the franchise.
