After the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons in arguably the craziest Super Bowl of all time in 2017, things got even wilder when it was discovered someone had stolen Tom Brady’s jersey out of the locker room after the game. The theft launched the second-most frantic manhunt associated with the city of Boston in recent memory, with Texas Rangers teaming up with local law enforcement to track down the pilfered piece of memorabilia, which was valued at more than $500,000.

The FBI eventually managed to find the jersey in Mexico, and it’s not too far-fetched to think we’ll eventually get a movie starring Mark Wahlberg as the agent tasked with cracking the case. If it’s handled right, there’s even a chance it could end up scoring some nominations at the Academy Awards— an event that almost had to deal with a similar situation after someone tried to jack an Oscar at an afterparty last night.

According to New York Times reporter Cara Buckley, a random guy attending the Governors Ball at the Dolby Theater last night tried to walk out with the statue that Frances McDormand took home after winning Best Actress for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. McDormand had apparently put the Oscar down while she was talking with someone (which I assume is a euphemism for “ripping shots to celebrate”) when he grabbed the statue and tried to make his way towards the door.

McDormand was eventually reunited with her Oscar and USA Today reports she celebrated by taking it to In n’ Out and crushing a Double-Double. On Monday, the LAPD reported they’d arrested a man named Terry Bryant for grand theft in connection with the crime, which means the actress won’t have to end up following in her character’s footsteps by purchasing some ad space on Hollywood Boulevard.
