HBO released new Game of Thrones teaser photos for the extremely critical Episode 3 of Season. This is the highly anticipated episode when we finally get the massive clash between the living and the undead at the Battle of Winterfell in the fight for the Seven Kingdoms. In one of the photos, fans are convinced that there is a dead character lurking in the background.
After Daenerys cut of Tyrion’s balls and wouldn’t allow him to fight in the Battle of Winterfell, Lannister (Peter Dinklage) joins fellow GoT eunuch Varys (Conleth Hill) in the Crypts of Winterfell with all of the women and children.
Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) at the walls of Winterfell preparing for the oncoming onslaught by the Night King and his Army of Dead.
Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) looking like he soiled his pants in fear of the waves of wights headed his way. At the same time, Ser Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) looks fearless in the face of death.
Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) get an elevated view of the Battle of Winterfell and it looks like their strategy is to burn everything around the caste in a theory that fire will stop ice.
The last teaser photo from the Battle of Winterfell episode is this pic of Sansa Stark, which appears to be your ordinary garden-variety portrait shot that doesn’t give away any of the plot for next week’s episode. Or so it seems.
However, Game of Thrones fans meticulously searched every pixel of the seemingly innocuous photo and found something eye-popping — another person in the photo. There definitely appears to be a mysterious man buried in the back of the photo peering in on the Lady of Winterfell.
That could just be any creeper from Winterfell peeking through the curtains, but if we zoom in on the photo (Enhance. Enhance. Enhance.), the man appears to resemble… Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen).
If you remember, Littlefinger had his throat slashed by Arya with his own Catspaw Valyrian steel dagger that was given to a hired assassin to kill Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright). This was quite a surprise that political novices Sansa and Arya were able to outfox Littlefinger, one of the most cunning manipulators in all of Westeros.
It is possible that the Night King raised Baelish from the dead and that is zombie Littlefinger. However, if this is indeed Petyr Baelish, the more likely hypothesis could come from this Game of Thrones fan theory that Littlefinger faked his death with the help of the Faceless Men.
This week’s Game of Thrones episode will be an epic 82 minutes. Can’t wait! [Bart Scott voice].
