Kansas Family Finds Hidden Door Inside Their House. Then They Try To Open It: ‘There’s A Reason Why It’s Blocked Off’

What would you do if you found a hidden door inside your house? Well, when TikToker Kassidy Tucker (@misfittoy_827) and her family found one in her uncle’s house, her first instinct was to film it.

Since then, the video of this possibly haunted basement has been viewed 73.4 million times.

The video began with on-screen text that read: “Found a hidden basement door in my uncle’s house,” followed by a nervous emoji.

What Did They Find In Their House?

“We found a hidden door in the house that we think leads to a basement,” Tucker explains. As the TikToker says this, her uncle pulls back a segment of the wall, revealing a wooden door underneath.

The uncle then tries to take out the screws on the door as he examines it.

“This is some horror movie s—,” Tucker opines, as the man continues with his mission.

“Supposedly the owner of the house before boarded it up,” she added. “All the years of horror movie experience I’ve ever watched is telling me not to do this. Especially with how many screws there are.”

Then, her aunt chimed in, telling the uncle, “You better stop.”

“My aunt’s in the background,” Tucker added.

The man then pretended to scream.

“No,” Tucker warned.

“Hey babe, did you see that hand?” the aunt called out.

“Yeah,” the uncle replied.

“No,” the TikToker repeated.

“Hey Kass, if you look up there, there’s a shadow up there too,” the woman added. This caused Tucker to giggle.

“Next thing you know, a little hamster is crawling out,” the aunt teased, before adding to the uncle, “Are you done, honey?”

After some more work, the man then takes the final screw out and removes the door.

BroBible reached out to Tucker via Instagram direct message.

What Is Behind The Hidden Door?

Below are a set of stairs leading to a dark abyss. “I ain’t going down there,” Tucker says. “Hell no.” Someone then shines a flashlight into the basement. It looks dirty and abandoned, with a messy tarmac floor, chunks of wood, and a green bucket in the corner.

“Mmm-mm,” Tucker continues. “You can’t pay me enough.”

“Not even $2,000?” The aunt asks.

“I might,” the TikToker snorts.

The flashlight then shines on the reverse of another set of stairs, which seem to grant access to the basement from a higher level. Tucker and her aunt then noted how there must be lots of spiders, with a visible spider web being pointed out.

The conversation then continues until Tucker says, “The thing’s been closed down for so long.”

As her aunt continues to speak, the TikToker adds, “Maybe I’ll make a video of everything down there.”

Did They Post Updates On The Hidden Door?

In a very brief part 2, Tucker revealed that the man boarded it back up after the first video took place. However, in on-screen text, Tucker promises viewers that they would be going down the next day to “investigate.”

In the third video, the investigation begins with the man standing on the stairs, shining a flashlight onto the second reverse set of stairs above his head.

“There’s that one broken step right there,” he points out, “that you see from that topside.”

He then ventures further down the steps.

“Oh no,” the aunt says. “No, no, don’t go down there. I’m not going down there.”

Simultaneously, Tucker says to her uncle, “Hey, if you die…”

“Why not?” the uncle asks.

” … I’ll take care of your wife,” the TikToker promises.

“…And child,” the aunt adds.

“And child!” Tucker repeats.

The pair then laugh while the TikToker pans the camera to the aunt’s pregnant belly.

You don’t go down there,” Tucker says to her aunt. “Every horror movie I know…”

“…The pregnant woman dies!” the aunt says.

“The pregnant woman always gets possessed,” the TikToker quips.

Meanwhile, the uncle has switched on the light, giving a slightly better view of the basement, as Tucker remains at the top of the stairs with her camera.

The basement is more messy than first appeared, with dirt, debris, wires, heavy-duty bricks, and chunks of wood littering the floor. There is also a considerable amount of dirt on the steps.

“Is there a light on?” Tucker then asks her uncle. He then asks her to turn off the light, which she does before turning it back on.

As this happens, a child can be heard talking in the background, saying, “I’ve been down there before.”

“Oh my God, the light works,” Tucker adds.

What Did Commenters Think?

Some urged Tucker and her family to not open the door. “I believe there was a reason the door was closed….” one wrote.

“Please don’t open it…” a second said.

While a third added, “This is how The Conjuring started…”

“I fear that some things are better left alone,” a fourth remarked.

And a fifth said, “There’s a reason why it’s hidden.”

Several commenters also remarked that it looked like there was an upside-down cross on the door, which some associate with Satanism and the occult.

More Mysterious Doors

Secret doors are doing numbers on TikTok. In another recent viral video, TikTok user Munsi (@munsicus) identified multiple hidden doors in their accommodation.

First up was the “weirdly placed murder door” behind a fridge, which Munsi said led to a “creepy crawl space.”

The TikToker then turned around and showed viewers a second door. This one led to a tiled room with another door at the end. As well as this, under the table was a trapdoor. Munsi said that the trap door “leads to a subterranean room that is floored only by loose rocks.”

According to Munsi, they put the table on top of the trap door “because we are not here to get murdered by ghosts.”

“That said, if we do get murdered by ghosts, I’m open to it,” they added. “Let’s stay in a haunted Airbnb. Let’s do it. Life is short, I am tall, let’s treat ourselves.”
