JPMorgan Chase executive Lorna Hajdini has filed a defamation lawsuit against former banker Chirayu Rana in response to his viral suit in which he accused her of making him a “sex slave.” Hajdini claims that Rana completely fabricated his allegations.
In a viral lawsuit filed earlier this month under the pseudonym John Doe, Chirayu Rana — a former JPMorgan employee — accused Lorna Hajdini drugging him, subjecting him to months of nonconsensual sex acts, and insulting him with racial slurs. Rana also claimed that she threatened to cut his bonus payment unless he agreed to have sex with her.
Rana reportedly demanded a settlement of $11.7 million, which was $10 million more than JPMorgan reportedly offered him to withdraw his claims. An internal investigation by JPMorgan also found that Hajdini had done nothing wrong.
JP Morgan executive Lorna Hajdini has filed a counter lawsuit against Chirayu Rana accusing him of defamation
According to the New York Post, however, internal HR documents revealed that Hajdini had no sway over Rana’s compensation or potential promotion, with the pair reporting to different managing directors.
“Ms. Hajdini categorically and unequivocally denies each and every allegation of unlawful conduct. These allegations are entirely false, malicious, and fabricated, and were concocted for the improper purpose of personal enrichment at the expense of defendants and others,” the countersuit reads.
“The plaintiff made up eerily similar fabricated allegations of sexual misconduct against a supervisor at a prior place of employment,” it continues. “Ms. Hajdini seeks to vindicate her name, mitigate the substantial damage inflicted upon her, and hold (the) plaintiff accountable for his depraved and unlawful conduct.”
Hajdini’s attorneys say that Rana was “peddling his lies that Ms. Hajdini was a racist, sexual predator to destroy her reputation for leverage to extort millions of dollars,” and that his initial lawsuit was “the culmination of a months-long campaign to smear Ms. Hajdini in the workplace, to third parties, the press, and now this court with fabricated assertions.”
“We fully support Lorna and her right to defend herself and protect her reputation. As we have said from the outset, we don’t believe the allegations against her or the firm have merit,” JP Morgan said in a statement.
Rana’s original lawsuit went hugely viral on X/Twitter due to Rana’s claim that Hajdini said to him: “I bet your little Asian, fish head, wife doesn’t have these cannons.”
