We’re only *looks at calendar and then looks again to make sure it’s correct* somehow four months into 2020, and even though we still have far too much time to go until people begin to look back at this absolute shitshow, there’s already a top contender for the Word of the Year award various dictionaries hand out in December: “social distancing.”

A few weeks ago, it became clear that allowing large groups of people to gather in close proximity is a bit counterproductive when it comes to stopping the spread of a highly contagious disease and officials around the world began to institute various measures to discourage members of the public from putting themselves and others at risk.

Sadly, this didn’t discourage far too many college kids from getting their spring break on before some of them got a massive dose of karma to remind them they’re not as immortal as they thought they were.

A couple of weeks ago, a number of celebrities with literally zero self-awareness attempted to make some sort of point when they filmed themselves singing a song asking listeners to imagine a world with no possessions while sequestered in their multimillion-dollar homes.

However, a number of other high-profile figures including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steph Curry, and Mel Brooks have released some far less insufferable public service announcements encouraging people to avoid going out in public as much as possible to hopefully help bring this miserable period in history to a close sooner rather than later.

Now, the state of California has tapped a true authority on the matter to issue a warning of his own: Larry David, a man who has spent decades perfecting the art of social distancing thanks to a general distaste for human interaction.

Here’s what the ultimate authority on the topic had to say to people who are still holding out.

Hard to argue with that.
