The anti-ICE protests, which started in Los Angeles, have spread to Las Vegas. On Wednesday night, over 300 protestors came out to Downtown Las Vegas to protest against President Trump’s illegal immigration enforcement tactics.
One protester spoke with the Las Vegas Review-Journal about why she decided to support the protests.
“I come from a Latino family, and seeing everything on the news about what’s happening in L.A., it’s heartbreaking,” Vasquez said. “We wanted to come out peacefully tonight to show that we see what’s happening and that we want to be heard.”
At 9pm, Las Vegas police declared the protest an “unlawful assembly” and threatened to arrest protesters.
We have declared an unlawful assembly at Las Vegas Boulevard and Clark due to protestors engaging in illegal activity. A dispersal order has been issued. Failure to leave can result in arrest or citation.
