According to reports, the assailant is Timothy Allen Wegert, 33, a former master instructor at UpLevel Martial Arts in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is said to be a 3-time world champion and 4th degree black belt though the various reports never stipulate what exactly he is the world champion of.
Gavin Stone of The Virginia Pilot spoke with Bill Peters who is the owner of the UpLevel martial arts location where Timothy Allen Wegert previously worked before being fired as CEO in 2021 “for his conduct outside of the business, which he said included multiple assaults.”
Of the latest incident, Peters said “I know him very, very well, I know the whole family — what a nice family. It’s a shame.”
