MrBeast inside of a grocery store
MrBeast has been breaking records for years. As the most-followed creator on YouTube with over 519 million subscribers, he just set a new world record for the most views on a YouTube video (non-music) in 24 hours.
For Jimmy Donaldson aka MrBeast‘s latest video he locked four guys inside a grocery store and the challenge was if they could eat everything inside the store they would receive $1,000,000.
New Mr Beast Grocery Store Video Sets Record For Most Views Ever In 24 Hours
The cost of groceries being at an all-time high almost certainly made this video more attention-grabbing to viewers as many people ponder what it would be like if someone paid you to eat versus having to go broke to not be hungry. One of the top upvoted comments on the video claims ” this is definitively the best mrbeast video ever” which is a bold statement, but in less than 48 hours the video has already been viewed 98+ million times and counting.
MrBeast announced the milestone on X with a screenshot showing analytics of the past 24 hours:
New video is our most viewed video ever in 24 hours but more importantly, it has 10,000+ comments saying it’s our BEST video ever (literally). Even though I’ve been making content for 17 years now I still think my best days are ahead, appreciate you all ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/dfSUHPvsTZ

The logistics behind a video such as this are wild to wrap one’s mind around. While the premise is straight forward, ‘eat everything and win a million dollars,’ the daily minutiae are mindboggling.
Firstly, he had to buy a stocked grocery store. Then it had to be remodeled so that people could live inside there for an undetermined amount of time. On top of that, MrBeast needed a crew that could be on hand 24/7/365 with no end in sight.
What about annual doctor visits? Dentist trips? Potential health complications of any sort? Allergic reactions? What if someone lost someone they loved while trapped inside the grocery store until they ate their way out? There was also. moment around 51:57 that is hard to imagine anyone saw coming! Check it out below:
In the end, it took them 202 days to eat their way out of the store. I cannot fathom being sequestered from my family, from my life, for 55% of an entire year all while living underneath those bright grocery store lights. There is no way I would’ve lasted in there.
MrBeast would later write that the average duration spent from each viewer was over 20 minutes. Donaldson spent over $10 million on his ‘Biggest Career Video’ and around $4 million on the Squid Game IRL video back in 2021. That Squid Game video by the way, it has 969 million views in the past 4 years.
It is unclear how much he spent on this grocery store video, but on Day 100 he gave out $40,000 ($10K/family) to the families of the guys eating their way out of the store. They won the $1,000,000 grand prize. So we know it is at least $1,040,000 and whatever he spent to purchase a fully-stocked grocery store and crew to document it all.
Suffice it to say, this MrBeast video was EXPENSIVE. But setting a new record for the most views in 24 hours and having countless people flood the comments saying it is the best MrBeast video ever is a pretty sure sign that he is on his way to profitability with this one.
Music videos on YouTube appear to be treated differently than this MrBeast world record. BTS saw ‘Butter’ receive 108.2 million views in 24 hours. Even still, this is an incredible achievement for MrBeast and his team.
