1977 spawned a number of retroactively revolutionary developments that have managed to transcend generations; that year, the world was exposed to a little movie called Star Wars, stumbled across the musical stylings of Jimmy Buffet courtesy of the earworm that is “Margaritaville,” and introduced to a new beer marketed as “Natural Light.”

Virtually anyone who’s spent time on a college campus is aware of the long-term ramifications of the last innovation on that list, as the adult beverage commonly referred to as “Natty Light” is widely viewed as the go-to option for thirsty undergrads on a budget.

In recent years, Natty Light has branched out a bit with the introduction of the criminally delicious elixir known as Naturdays and a line of vodka inspired by the shandyesque drink (in addition to the obligatory hard seltzer).

However, the brand recently decided to go back to its roots, as it’s rolled out a limited-edition line of vintage cans to pay tribute to its origins.

The cans might be a throwback, but they’re also very fresh thanks to a clean design you could argue Natty Light never should’ve abandoned in the first place. While the liquid that’s contained inside them is technically the same as the beer a lot of people reading this are probably a bit too familiar with, there’s something about the crisp white exterior that makes it just hit differently.

It’s not entirely clear how long they’ll be the vintage cans will be available, so if you want to add one to your collection, you’ll want to act sooner rather than later.
