Nintendo announced that three new Pokémon video games are coming to Switch and the best part is that one of them is free. BONUS: You can download and play it right this very second. The free-to-start game for Switch is called Pokémon Quest is available on the Nintendo eShop digital store.
Nintendo describes Pokémon Quest as a “rambunctious action RPG” set on Tumblecube Island. In this game, you’ll become cubical, Minecraft-esque Pokémon that you can customize with special traits where you team up with other Pokémon to discover hidden treasures. If you don’t have Switch don’t get too down because Pokémon Quest is coming to iOS and Android in late June.

The other two new Pokémon games are role-playing and are titled Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!. For those two games, you’ll have to wait until they’re released into the wild on November 16th. These two games will be different from other RPGs in the Pokémon franchise and will offer couch co-op, mobile integration, and big-screen play.
The Let’s Go games are based on the original Pokémon Yellow game from way back in the Nintendo Game Boy days, but also gets an update and incorporates some features and mechanics from Pokémon Go. The game takes place in the Kanto region, which is home to the original 151 Pokémon. “These games, Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, we took inspiration from and used Pokémon Yellow version, Special Pikachu Edition, as the base for these,” said Game Freak director Junichi Masuda.
