Actress and director Olivia Wilde has evidently seen the memes that spawned from her recent red carpet apperance and decided to offer a humorous explanation on Instagram. Wilde made sure to clarify that she is not, in fact, dead.

During a recent appearance on a red carpet to promote her new film The Invite — which she directed and stars in alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton and Penelope Cruz — Olivia Wilde looked noticeably thinner than in the past, leading to speculation that she took a weight loss drug such as Ozempic.

Olivia Wilde addressed speculation that she’s taking Ozempic after video of her gaunt apperance went viral, assures people she’s “not dead”

Wilde addressed the accusations on Instagram in a video in which her brother asks whether she’d like to respond to rumors that she is a “resurrected corpse.” Wilde, taking the viral moment in stride, said that her gaunt appearance was caused by fisheye lens, standing too close to the camera, and bad angle.

“Olivia Wilde, do you care to address recent rumors that you’re a resurrected corpse?” Wilde’s brother asks her in the video.

“Listen. That is a fisheye lens. And I admit… was that my best angle? Was that my best ever look? No! It’s startling. It’s a startling image. It was a fisheye lens and… I don’t know why I was so close to the camera. I didn’t have to be,” Wilde said before adding, “I’m not… I’m not dead.”

“Leave it to your little brother to give you the maximum amount of s—,” Wilde captioned the Instagram video, which included overlayed images of Wilde’s viral moment in one corner and a photo of Gollum from Lord of the Rings in the other.

The Invite — Wilde’s latest directorial effort and her first since 2022’s film Don’t Worry Darling — will be released in movie theaters on June 26. You can check out the official trailer below.
