Texas Man Notices Something Suspicious About The QuikTrip Condiments: ‘I Work At QT And I Actually Have No Idea’

American consumers are no strangers to foods that don’t seem to act like regular foods.

For example, earlier this year, a woman documented hamburger buns that wouldn’t mold even one month after their expiration date. Consumers have also long joked that beloved American classics such as Kraft Singles or Twinkies are practically invincible, lasting well beyond the date printed on the package.

However, you’d think an opened bottle of creamy dressing containing eggs would need to go in the refrigerator immediately.

In a recent TikTok video, which got over 297,800 views, creator @hunterleedunsirn said that does not appear to be the case for QuikTrip ranch. And now, he has questions.

What’s Wrong With The QuikTrip Ranch Dressing?

In the clip, Dunsirn looks dubiously at the camera before pointing it at the source of his concern: an opened, half-empty QuikTrip-brand bottle of Gourmet Ranch sitting at room temperature.

“What is QuikTrip putting in their ranch dressing that makes it safe to sit out for 2 weeks, opened and un-refrigerated, [smiling face with tear emoji],” he wrote in the video’s text overlay.

He also tagged QuikTrip directly in the caption.

“@QT Is the holy grail of gas stations,” he wrote. “But I can’t help but wonder what’s going on with their ranch dressing.”

Should You Refrigerate Ranch After Opening?

Because QT Gourmet Ranch is only offered for customers in-store, BroBible wasn’t able to collect specific information about how to properly store the product.

However, generally speaking, ranch dressing should be refrigerated after opening. Hidden Valley’s FAQ, for example, says customers should refrigerate bottle ranch condiments and dressings after opening for the best flavor and texture.

FoodSafety.gov also treats opened creamy based dressings differently from vinegar-based dressings during power outages. If a refrigerator has been above 50°F for more than eight hours, the agency advises consumers discard creamy based dressings. Opened vinegar-based dressings, on the other hand, can be kept.

Nevertheless, without knowing exactly what’s inside QuikTrip ranch, it’s hard to say definitively. When in doubt, however, if the bottle says “refrigerate after opening,” it belongs in the fridge.

Commenters Have Thoughts

In the comments, some viewers thought gas station food expectations are supposed to be low in the first place.

“Bro wants to eat GAS STATION FOOD but draws the line at room temperature ranch,” one commenter wrote.

Another person argued that the ranch may not be as alarming as it looks.

“It’s food safe it just had to be thrown out sooner; the fridge extends its shelf life but ranch can last a about 1-2 weeks on the shelf once opened,” they wrote.

“It builds character,” a third joked.

However, one commenter who claimed to work at QuikTrip was not exactly able to clear things up.

“I work at QT and I actually have no idea,” they wrote.
